Youth support service

ICYS Ipswich Community Youth Service - Empowering Tomorrow Decisions

here to help

The youth support system can often be complex and daunting to navigate. The Ipswich Youth Support Service (IYSS) and Regional Youth Support Service (RYSS) walk alongside young people who may not have the support of school, friends, family and community, seeking to link them in with essential services and provide practical support and case management to for young people to build connection and thrive.

These programs assess the needs of a young person, provide individualised case management support, share information about specialist services they can access and refer appropriately.  Both IYSS and RYSS provide individual one-on-one support to young people through advice, information and referral, and ongoing case management support to achieve their goals.

  • IYSS and RYSS are voluntary programs that support young people aged 12-21 years who live in suburbs of Ipswich and the Somerset and Lockyer Valley region. Case workers within these teams work directly with young people and provide practical support that meet the individual needs and goals of young people.

  • The case workers can help you if you are having difficulties with your family and friends, housing, school, work and/or youth justice matters. If there is something that is troubling you and you don't know where to start, your case worker can be flexible and creative, helping you to navigate the issue.

  • The IYSS program also runs various social activities and events throughout the year which any young person is welcome to attend, without being supported by a case worker. Programs are often drop-in in nature and more information can often be found on our social media channels.

  • If you are wanting support you can call or visit the ICYS office and refer yourself. Otherwise, another adult can contact and support you to do this.

  • If you are an external service you can complete our Third-Party Referral form located at the top of the page or you can directly contact the IYSS Team Leader on yss@icys.org.au. Please note, as the IYSS and RYSS programs are voluntary, consent from the young person is required.

If you believe you need the assistance of our IYSS or RYSS staff, please feel free to connect with us, via phone or the website.
