Ipswich Community Youth Service run a highly successful (Free) Get Set for Work program (GSFW) which is funded by the Queensland Government under the Skilling Queenslanders for Work initiative. 


The majority of young people successfully attain a certificate level qualification, with many moving on to further study and training, employment and apprenticeships.



Young people 16 - 19 years old who are disengaged from the education system are eligible and can expect:


  • Empathetic, safe, and inclusive environment 
  • Supportive, small classes 
  • A focus on developing skills for job readiness  
  • Developing and building life and social skills 
  • Time management skill development in preparation for the workplace
  • Fun, positive and dynamic peer network
  • Working as part of a team environment 
  • Working under leadership of qualified chefs and hospitality staff at TAFE QLD 
  • Support with building a cover letter, learning to write a resume, skills in job searching, interviewing tips and techniques and;
  • Intensive employment and training assistance over a 12-month period
